Camera tripod on carry on luggage?
Can you bring your camera tripod as carry on in an international flight or do you have to check it in?
To answer your question a little more specifically, usually camera tripods are required to be stored underneath the plane. The reason for this is that the tripod conceivably can be used as a weapon to hijack a plane. The enforcement level for a camera tripod, however, is dodgy. If you get it by initial check-in and don’t store it, you can be 100% that if they don’t ask you to put it underneath, it will be run through the x-ray machine at the security checkpoint.
I used to carry a lacrosse stick on planes before 9-11. Now it is not allowed. So that’s my meter for judging your tripod.
