Why is the terminal line on the moon the best area to point a telescope or binoculars?
The question reads, “The best place to aim a telescope or binoculars on the Moonis among the terminal line- the line between the Moon’s light and dark hemispheres. Why?”
You get high contrast near the terminator due to the long shadows. At the edge of light and dark is like sunset. At sunset, the Sun is at the horizon, and your shadow can be quite long.
“Best” is a highly subjective word, and should be avoided in school science homework questions. I give the question a grade of B+.
