This is meant for sticking in your backpack, easy to carry and light weight. It is stable as long as the lens on your camera isn’t too large. It works fine on my dSLR, even with a 500mm catadioptric lens (compact telephoto design). It has limited use compared to a conventional tripod since you cant adjust height. If you find yourself benching your camera on rocks and boxes, this sort of tripod will helpful.
