30 inch or 36 inch range hood to go over my 30 inch oven?

I am remodeling my kitchen and I am wondering if there is a more “desirable” or “marketable” look in kitchens these days with regards to range hoods. I am buying a 30 inch-wide oven, so should my stainless steel (Euro style) range hood ALSO be 30 inches or should I get the 36 inch-wide hood? I have heard that in ‘professional kitchens’ it is more common to get a hood that is actually wider than the oven.

If you have the space, you could go with the wider hood. Unless you’re building a professional kitchen, I wouldn’t worry too much about which is better. I’d check to see if the 30-inch is suitable to handle the exhaust. But if you presently have a 30-inch, it depends on how it is installed to determine if you could replae it with a 36-inch. the opening (if there is one) is probably cut to fit the current size. So it depends on whether you have overhead cabinets, etc.
