Is the gorillapod suitable for my camera?

Ok so I recently got a JVC Everio Video camera for christmas and my friend and I are about to start making home movies, we feel it would be beneficial to have a tripod such as the gorillapod so that both of us can be in the shot at one time. Anyway i was wondering will my model of the camera work with the gorillapod?, is the gorillapod a good idea for young movie makers?, any ideas for a first video?

Gorilla pods are great for still photos if you don’t want to drag around a full sized tripod, but quite useless for video.
You need the freedom of movement to pan, plus the height to have it sitting tall enough so you don’t need to bend over the whole time you are shooting.
