Do not mount old style flash units (or any non-EOS type flash) directly to your camera before verifying that it’s trigger voltage is smaller than the capabilities of your rebel, or you’ll fry its delicate circuits. Radios are great, because you won’t have to worry about that, plus you can put the lights (multiple) where they should be, which is almost always off-camera.
