Erecting Prism

Strange monoliths on the school grounds?
At my high school, I recently noticed multiple concrete monoliths which have been erected. They are in the form of rectangular prisms, about 7 feet high, and 1.5 feet by 10 feet at the base. They have no artwork on them whatsoever– they simply sit. One is positioned at the edge of the soccer pitch, diagonal to the rest of the field. Two more are located on the practice football field, aligned next to each other. WHAT ARE THEY???
I would inspect the top surfaces to see if there are traces of fasteners there (bolt holes, cut off steel projections, etc.) This sort of thing would imply that they were piers or supports for some suspended structure, that has since been removed.
