Can you bring a regular digital camera to the hollywood bowl?
Also can you bring binoculars?
Nope, you’re not supposed to use cameras at the Bowl. BUT, when I was at the McCartney concert a few weeks ago, no cameras allowed, literally EVERYONE was obviously taking photos and video. (Even my totally rule boy dh.) Mostly with cell phones, some with typical small digital cameras and Nanos. No big cameras or video cameras. Security was right there and didn’t say a thing. I figured if they did I would just say I’m really sorry, I didn’t know. Sometimes they pat you down and look through your bag/backpack when you enter, but they really didn’t look through mine – had me open it, but didn’t really look in – so you could easily hide a small camera. Take it and then see how you feel.
You shouldn’t use flash, because it’s rude to other patrons and the performers, and it doesn’t do any good anyway unless you’re within about 10 feet. But you can get some very interesting and dramatic photos without flash. Just don’t block anyone’s view. If your camera has a low light setting, use that, and just hold your arms tight to your sides for stability or lean on something so your photo is in focus.
There doesn’t seem to be any written rules against binoculars, lots of people use them, they’re a good idea. There are also large screens so you can see what is going on stage even if you’re far back, but depending on how far back, bring binoculars.
