Celestron Skyscout

Celestron Skyscout
What would be the best Telescope to buy for budget up to £800?

Im faily new to astronomy but have always had a keen interest, I have spent some time looking at the different types of telescopes but with no avail or dicision. I have however been looking at the Nextstar 6SE, I like the idea of getting a motorized celestron as I could also get the skyscout for it. Does anyone have any advice of a good telescope, I would like to eventually look at deep space opjects such as galaxies, nebulae etc, but all over time. I could also possibly get the CPC 800 by celestron as a friend is selling this for a decent price, but any thoughts on this?Any help from anyone who knows a bit about telescopes would be very much apreciated.

800 quid will certainly get you a good scope. The main thing to look for is aperture. The bigger the scope the more light you can capture and the better the image you get. If you want to see stuff outside of our own galaxy, you really need big aperture. The Celestron is only a 6 inch, to be honest I would expect more aperture for that kind of money. My Celestron Omni XLT refractor is a 120mm (5 inches) and it was 350.
The CPC 800 is a bit more like it, 8 inches of aperture is pretty good. Some GoTo mounts have a build in skyscout type thing that will tell you a little about what you’re looking at.
If however you change your mind about the motorised mount, and you’re not planning on moving it around too much, 800 would get you a pretty big one (especially since with motorised mounts, half of the cost is the mount) such as Meade’s LightBridge series which go up to 16 inches.
