Benro Tripod
Can you recommend a tripod under the following criteria?
I am looking for a sturdy studio or outdoor tripod. I would like it to have a reversible or horizontal center column. I currently have a Sunpak Platinum Plus. I would say max price with head: $200 w/out head: $120-$130. The head would need to support a D70 plus sigma 70-300 and sb600 flash: about 5.5 lbs. I already have a decent travel tripod: Benro Travel Angel TRA069, so I would like this one to be sturdy enough for long shutter speeds, timelapse, and location photography.
There are a few $100 sturdy tripods out there, but since you only buy a tripod once, you many want to spend closer to $300 with head.
That said, if you are planing on shooting long exposures, you will need 1) a remote shutter release and 2) at least one #10 to 15# sandbag to hang from your tripod for stability. Add that and the weight of your camera and lens when doing your calculations.
