Astronomy Binoculars

Astronomy Binoculars.?
I am getting ready to buy a pair of astronomy binoculars for my son and I. What are some good brands? I know 7×50 or 10×50 and porro prism, but every company states that theirs are the best. So I was looking for some personal experience on what kind I should buy. I would like to keep it under $200 if possible.
Good question. The 7×50 will give a little brigher image than the 10×50. Also some people have difficulty holding 10×50 steady enough with the increased power which causes more image jiggle. In general the larger the objective lense the more light they will gather and the dimmer the objects they will pick up.
Here is one pair that you might consider just under $200. 9×63. But be sure to read the review about image jiggle. The 63 mm objective lense will gather twice as much light as 50 mm. They might be just a tad heavy for hand holding.

Here is a good pair of 7×50 binoculars. Considerably less expensive than the 9×63. Also these are useful for other things besides astronomy. Very good for bird watching.

Finally here is a good pair of all purpose binoculars 8×40. Not so bright as the 2 above, but a very good overall pair for all kinds of viewing. They have a very wide field of view meaning that you will see more threw these than the 2 above.
