What kind of adapter do I need to mount a telephoto lens to Pentax ME?
Hello, I am new to photography and just purchased a Pentax ME from ebay and it came with a Gold Crown 75-205 mm Telephoto lens. What kind of adapter do I need?

Yes, I have removed the lens on the camera and tried to screw on the Telephoto lens, but it does not screw into place. It is loose and can come off of the camera easily.
The telephoto came with the ME as a set. I would assume they all have the same mount. The ME uses a bayonet mount. It’s not a screw. Compare the two lenses you have and see if the mounts are identical. If the telephoto is different, you have been screwed!
The telephoto may have a T-mount which can come loose. The T-mount may mount correctly but the lens may not if the three screws at the sides of the mount aren’t tight enough.
The telephoto also may come with an M42 mount but that shouldn’t mount at all. That is unless it has an M42 to PK adapter. If that is the case and the locking mechanism of that adapter has been removed or broken (like mine), the lens will mount but won’t lock. If the index line on the lens is already at the top (12 o’clock position), stop turning. The lens will hold but just be careful when focusing. You can buy a replacement for that adapter from eBay. That’s an M42 to PK or Pentax screw to Pentax bayonet adapter.
If the telephoto came with a strikingly similar Nikon bayonet mount, it would precariously hang on to the camera. You could take a picture but you have to be extra careful the lens won’t drop. Nikon mount lenses at that same period have the bunny ears on the aperture ring.
